Dirt Road Divas Boutique is open & thriving, and as new owners (Jodie & Tony Robinson), we are so happy to be in the beautiful Kingwood community! Dirt Road Divas was one of our favorite stores to shop long before we ever thought of owning it; and when the shop became available, we had to figure out a way to have it!   The day we were given the keys to the store is a day we will never forget. One day we wanted to own the business, then we did!  After the initial excitement wore off, we had to get to work!  If you aren't familiar with Dirt Road Divas (DRD), we are located in the upscale Colonnade shopping center right behind the Conservatory Salon and Day Spa.  Ladies love to get a little pampering to get in the mood, and then come over and do a little shopping.

Tony and I live and work in the Kingwood area along with our own 2 little Divas - Chloe (5) and Sophie (3).  The entire family puts in an effort to help run the boutique, and they have quickly learned what late hours mommy and daddy can spend at the shop! Jodie started working in clothing stores at a very young age, and came with a strong understanding of retail and fashion, while Tony has always had a deceptively creative and sharo eye for design (he tries to hide it as most men do). Together, we have always wanted a local business and to be our own bosses, and this couldn't have been a better fit...except of course that our wonderful children think for certain that they are actually in charge! We love to work and long hours come naturally to us, because our other "work outside of work" is indeed fun! We certainly have a lot to accomplish to make the store our own, but feel like the first stage of our ownership has been a great success. The prior owners started such a wonderful concept and design, we have had a tremendous head start.

We had our formal grand opening/relaunch as new owners on July 16 from 4pm-9pm, and our event was a success!  Pat Guard  (from The Veranda Restaurant) was kind enough to photograph the entire event and her husband Ray came by in his 1953 Cadillac to give our event a touch of flair!  Social queens Diane Blanco and Pam Dickson were on hand to mix and mingle with our many friends and loyal customers, and we just had a great time. We worked on opening a party & meeting room before the launch, and so for the relaunch we surely did meet and party! Fun was had by all. We are originally from Louisiana, and we are always looking for an excuse to throw a party. The more the merrier!

Since Dirt Road Divas promotes local vendors, many of our designers turned out for the event. Jason Messina with Zenvy Attire was very hands on spreading the word about his company’s artistic creations. He was able to provide first hand knowledge on how each Zenvy shirt is sprayed by hand using an organic lightener to remove color from the shirts to create Zenvy's notable Z and other designs. His popular Fleur-De-Lis black Ts and Tanks were on display, & colors and fabrics were all the talk. Jason pointed out how his shirts have no added ink or fibers to create their prints, so the shirt feels as soft as the day it was made even after they transform them into the final product. Very impressive work by Zenvy! His line start at a very affordable $28 for a hand designed tank, and  we have also added several styles and colors to choose from.

Jean Gathmann was on hand also, and is the creative inspiration behind our handmade and very popular jewelry line "Tobbes Creations".  Jean is always searching for ways to catch your eye, and uses unique stones such as strawberry quartz, African agate, polished wood medallions, crystals and pearls to bring her pieces to life. Her one of a kind creations are absolutely beautiful and definitely dazzle!  Jean adds new selections weekly so there is always something new, and her lifelong background in the arts shows clearly in the beauty of her work. We are proud to showcase her jewelry in Dirt Road Divas!

One of our newer local designers was on hand, Jessica Sherrill from Muddy Feet Boutique. Jessica is a very talented designer of children’s clothing in the Kingwood area, and we have just begun to see some of the pieces she is capable of designing. Her fall line for children will also be adorable! During our relaunch Jessica spoke about her handmade dresses for girls sizes 2-8, and how her designs go from concept to complete.  Her hot pink dress with zebra trim was certainly one of the hits of the evening.

Other local designers we use are Little Turtle Lovies, Rose is a Rose handmade bows and hair clips, Amanda Chappa jewelry, Blankets by Annalise, and ABS Kids Design from Baton Rouge (check out the Who Dat shower sets!).  In addition we have fabulous artwork on display by a Texas artist named Diane Gregory - dubbed Queen of the Trailer Park! Diane has signed each of her paintings on display in Dirt Road Divas, and has become a great friend already.  Her eccletic and inspirational canvas paintings of crosses, hearts and peace signs are exceptional, and begin to tell the story of her life and love of family. We also carry handmade travel hats and silk scarves from an artist out of Seattle. For our food and wine connoisseurs, we offer exquisite serving sets and wine glasses that are uniquely hand detailed and amazing!

Oh and I can’t forget …The Diva herself Jodie creates her own original organic bath and body line called Sassy Diva Soapworks.  Jodie crafts the soaps individually out of vegetable based glycerin and makes them in yummy scents such as Snickers Bar, Vanilla Cake, Leather, Honey Nut and Strawberry Shortcake just to name a few.  When the Sassy Diva makes a new batch you can smell it all over the store!

Designs that are not local but are staples of Dirt Road Divas selections include Kingwood favorites Joy Joy, Va Va by Joy Han, Free People, Gypsy Soule, Trina Turk, Miss Me Jeans, Lia Kes, Faith, Jade, Big Star, Witness & Corky's western rain boots and ropers among several other selected designers.  We personally find the clothing and accessories for our Kingwood friends, and think you will appreciate the selection that we have available.

Another addition to the Boutique is a new "Diva Suite" that offers pub tables or conference style seating,  HDTV, music, and small bar for serving wine and beer.  This space helps us to donate private VIP Limo parties to various charities in the community, and makes a fun time for all while allowing us to help  Each limo party includes a chauffeured pick up by the fabulous Club Works Limo Company and a private shopping experience complete with wine, cheese, and something chocolate!  So far we have had the pleasure of donating to the Officer Perry Fund, Mother’s Against Cancer Foundation, the Rachel Zinteck Fundraiser, Hogs and Chicks and The Mission Luncheon.  All sales go back towards having more Limo parties, and are a very important aspect of our vision as local business owners.  Mothers Against Cancer have begun using our suite to host their meetings, and we plan to provide a free and private meeting location for other groups in our area as well. On a really fun note, we hope to also use the Diva Suite to host spa parties for ladies that enjoy a little pampering to go along with their shopping.

Tony and I want to make Dirt Road Divas your unique shopping destination in Kingwood, and promise you won't be disappointed!  If you haven’t been in lately, or ever, come by and say hi!
